today was the first of two days of meetings at work, so i continued my “skirts for work” theme and couldn’t help putting together another yellow and gray combo today. the shoes are the same as yesterday, but you’ll all be relieved to know that i re-painted my nails (silver!). the necklace is also the same as yesterday, but without the pin (this yellow shirt is already busy enough. i didn’t want to add any more distraction).
i also decided to try the “tuck it in” idea put forth by paperfoxling in a comment on an earlier post. i wasn’t convinced that it was working for me until i saw these photos. um. i actually kind of love it! this elastic-waist skirt may not be the best candidate for a tucked shirt, but it’s not as noticeable as i’d thought and i also don’t look as short-waisted as i thought i might.
here you can see a peek of the cute orange bracelet that goes so well with my purse. the jacket was a bit of a last-minute addition (i wouldn’t normally pair this green and this yellow), but i kind of like it here and it is definitely a “skirt week” piece of clothing (way to restrictive to comfortably do “the wheels on the bus”) so i’ve got to get good use out of it while i can.
and i just have to give a shout-out to my brilliant friend, trent, who took today’s photos. other than the bizarro lighting (which was entirely my fault for being in too much of a rush to adjust the camera’s settings) i think these are by far the best shots to date in this fashion chronicles series. if he didn’t live all the way across town and if he wasn’t a fantastically busy person, i’d consider hiring him as my own personal photographer full-time. love these!
today’s outfit:
necklace: made by me :: shirt, j. crew (thrifted at dig-n-save) :: jacket, [forever] twenty-one (swapped from a lovely friend. who happens to be married to trent-the-photographer) :: skirt, j. jill (thrifted at savers) :: purse (thrifted at dig-n-save) :: shoes, anne klein (thrifted at savers)
oh, and p.s. the makeup must be working it’s subtle magic. i had someone today ask me if i’ve lost weight (well, yes, some, but not that much since the last time you saw me, i don’t think!) and another person compliment my haircut (the same one i’ve had, more or less, for the past 8 years or so. granted, it’s in a good phase right now, but still…). :)
