i’ve been ogling this maxi skirt trend, especially the striped maxi skirts, all summer long. trouble is, they’re such a hot commodity right now that no one is donating them to thrift stores.
but they’re pretty simple to sew, right? sure, if you can find the fabric. and even if you could (which i couldn’t. what the heck, fabric-mongers of the world?!) you still need at least three yards of fabric and that can add up. so i broke down and bought this skirt new from target. for full price!Â
it was the last one they had, so it’s actually too big (xxl), but i took in the sides a bit and it’s more or less okay now. and it is soooo comfy. and i love the way it billows when i walk.
and it’s one of only three things i’ve purchased new so far (the second being the shoes and the third being that yellow belt, both of which were on sale).
this outfit feels much more “me, but polished” than some of the ones i’ve tried lately. nothing particularly fussy (no belts, no tucking), but i still like the way it looks pulled together.
here’s a sneak peek of an upcoming post…
shirt:Â garnet hill (thrifted) :: skirt: target :: shoes: born (macy’s) :: purse:Â coach (thrifted) :: scarf: diy by me
p.s. no, i’m not doing any full-on model vamping in this post, but i have to say i’m fairly pleased with how these turned out, grungy “industrial” background and all!
