my dear mother recently taught me a new and very useful trick. when trying to get muffins out of the pan (i never seem to put enough grease on my pan and “non-stick” seems to be a bit of a misnomer) i had always struggled with finding the right tool. i didn’t want to use a knife (either paring or butter) for fear of scratching the “non-stick” coating. rubber scrapers were just too thick and blunt to get muffins out without just smooshing them to bits. on one of our recent visits, my mom suggested i try our orange peeler. brilliant. it’s the perfect tool (mine is tupperware brand). now if i could only learn a trick to make cleaning the baked on bits of muffin come out without such liberal use of elbow grease, then muffins might become more regular on our menu. (p.s. that muffin up there is fantastic and i may be posting the recipe soon. here’s a tantalizing hint: peanut butter chocolate chip, but relatively healthy!)
