last night, a friend of mine invited me to go to see a concert of a duo she had heard on the radio and loved. i ended up being rather late and caught only the last 10-15 minutes or so (it was a free concert) but i loved it! the musicians are two acoustic guitarists (a man and a woman) who do incredible things with the instruments. here is their website where you can hear one of their songs. if you ever have a chance to see them live, go! they are incredible to watch. gabriela’s strumming hand is amazing to watch. (you can see a little bit of it on the video on their homepage.) the instrument is a percussion and string instrument both in her hands. wow. i challenge you to listen to “diablo rojo” on their myspace website and sit still in your chair.
there was a little girl (maybe two years old) who was standing in the aisle next to my chair. she was one of those gorgeous little children with chubby cheeks and twinkly eyes and curly hair that you just want to pick up and squeeze. she stood there listening to the music, then her eyes squinched up with a grin and she started dancing to the music. completely adorable.
