story picnics

today was my first installment of a new, short-term program at the library called “story picnics.” i’ve chosen to read “the tale of despereaux” by kate dicamillo over the course of the next three weeks to anyone who wants to come to the park and have their lunch and listen. today, i had twelve people show up and we had a lovely time (lawn mower next door notwithstanding) reading this delightful tale of a mouse, a princess, some soup and a spool of thread. if you haven’t read it yet, i highly recommend the audio recording of it, or come to my story picnics.
